Pembrokeshire-based Martin Myers beat four other finalists to win Countryman Fairs’ Clay Shooting Festival Grand Final, which took place at the Midland Game Fair last weekend.
Talented Martin scored 23×25 which placed him firmly in the lead in front of runner-up Phillip Smith who scored 21×25. This is the third time Martin has been crowned champion, having also won the competition in both 2014 and 2005.
Sponsored by Turkish gunmaker Armsan, Promatic Clay Sports Traps and French footwear brand Le Chameau, the competition had some incredible prizes up for grabs including a pair of Le Chameau Vierzonord boots, semi-auto shotguns and accessories from Premier Guns.
In total, more than 1,700 shooters entered the competition at one of Countryman Fairs’ six regional heats in a bid to qualify for a place in the final. Plant operator Martin qualified at Kelmarsh Country Show. He commented: “I am delighted to have won this competition again and I will most certainly be trying for a fourth title next year!”
