The Midland Game Fair is the UK’s premier shooting event, and has been the event of choice for country sports enthusiasts and families looking for that special day out for over a decade. Held over 16th and 17th September at Weston Park in Shropshire, the Midland Game Fair has become the annual meeting place for the shooting community as well as families wanted to experience the best the countryside has to offer.
Set within the stunning grounds of Weston Park in Shropshire, the vast parkland offers truly amazing grounds in which to host a countryside event of this magnitude. A perfect place for families, visitors can enjoy a superb line-up of activity this year, especially inside the amazing Le Chameau Main Arena. Here, visitors can watch established jousting team the Knights of Middle England, Britain’s longest established and leading dog display team, the Essex Dog Display as well as Ye Olde Redtail Falconry, fun and colourful sheep racing with the Lamb National, a traditional parade of hounds at the Hound Parade and an insightful demonstration from seasoned demonstrator Brian Brinded.
Away from the Le Chameau Main Arena, visitors can enjoy the ever-popular Folk Roots Festival across three different stages, the Prince Albert Angling Fishing Village, a Working Dog Village, Falconry Village, Airgun Expo and Gamekeeper’s Row, as well as a Fieldsports Arena, Food Festival and Beer in the Park, where visitors can take a well earned break! There’s the Gunmaker’s Roadshow, which brings together world-class shotgun manufacturers and distributors, a Survival Camp and not to mention a whole host of family inspired entertainment. From Ferret displays, donkey rides to inflatables, there is also a huge array of have-a-go fun, musical entertainment and demonstrations in every rural craft for every age and interest.
As Britain’s largest fieldsports-themed outdoor event, the 2017 annual Midland Game Fair boasts a comprehensive itinerary for the whole family as well as more than 700 trade stands selling the latest in countryside goodies and outdoor wear and accessories. With Grand Finals also being hosted in the Chudleys Gundog Championship and BASC Clay Shooting events, spectators and visitors can expect a nail-biting close to what has been a superb season of activity.
